What can bring people to therapy?

People come to counselling for many reasons.

Sometimes a particular difficulty has become hard to manage; perhaps life has changed and you are struggling to adjust; or you may not be entirely sure what is wrong, only that you don't feel like yourself.

I can support you with difficulties such as:

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Panic and panic attacks

  • Depression and low mood

  • Stress and feeling overwhelmed

  • Trauma and difficult past experiences

  • Low self-esteem and confidence

  • Relationship difficulties and break-ups

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Major life changes and transitions

  • Difficulties adjusting to university, work or retirement

  • Changes in identity or sense of purpose

  • Moving home or country

  • Becoming a parent, becoming a new mum or a mum again

  • Changes in family life, including becoming an empty nester

  • Difficult emotions or recurring patterns of behaviour

  • Feeling stuck or uncertain about the future

You do not need to identify yourself with a particular diagnosis or category to come to therapy.

If something is affecting your emotional wellbeing or making it difficult to live the life you want, it may be worth talking about.
