When life feels difficult, you don't have to work through it alone.
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what you are going through, feel heard and understood, and begin to make sense of what is happening.
Life can bring challenges at any stage. You may be experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, stress or the effects of trauma. Or perhaps you are going through a significant change in your life: a relationship ending, a career change, starting university, moving home or country, experiencing a loss, becoming a new mum or a mum again, becoming an empty nester, approaching retirement, or simply wondering what you want from the next stage of your life.
Sometimes there isn't a single obvious reason for how we feel. You may simply know that things don't feel right, that you are struggling to cope, or that you feel disconnected from yourself or from the life you want.
Asking for support can be an important first step.
A space to understand what is happening
Therapy gives you time and space to step back from everyday life and explore what you are experiencing.
Together, we can look at your thoughts, feelings, physical responses and behaviours, as well as experiences from the past that may still be affecting you today.
My approach is integrative, drawing on humanistic counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Depending on what you need and what you want to achieve, therapy may involve talking and exploring your experiences, developing a greater understanding of yourself, learning practical strategies, or gently challenging patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be perpetuating difficulties.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
Therapy is a collaborative process
I believe the relationship between client and therapist is at the heart of effective therapy.
We will work together at a pace that feels right for you. I will listen carefully to what matters to you and what supports you, without judgement, while also helping you identify patterns, develop new perspectives, and make changes when you feel ready to do so.
My aim is not to tell you what to do, but to help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself and your experiences, so that you can make choices that feel right for you.
A first conversation
I offer all new clients a free 20-minute initial phone or Zoom consultation.
This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy and what you are looking for, and for both of us to consider whether we feel comfortable working together.
If we decide to proceed, our first session will give us more time to explore what you would like help with, what you hope to achieve and some relevant background about you.
You don't need to have everything worked out before you contact me.
If you feel ready to talk, Iād be happy to hear from you.
